The Feature Set That Made Me Delete Three Other Word Apps

de infinitewordle le 27 Juil 2026, 08:41

Well, here we go, because I managed to get rid of three apps on my phone last month and now I just feel happy about that. I mean those kinds of apps which were interesting and useful in the beginning but became annoying later due to ads, premium access wall, mandatory sign-up process and so on. But then I tried wordleunlimited.dev, I used it for a week and found out that all those features which I wanted from those other apps became available and free. So today I want to talk about my experience of using the features of the app which substituted three others in my app collection.

No Downloads – The First Domino to Fall

The first feature which made me understand that I need to get rid of the apps I am using was downloads problem. All the apps were occupying my storage space and battery for nothing. Wordle Unlimited plays directly in the browser which means that it uses 0 space and 0 background activity while you are not using the app. I simply opened the website and added it to the home screen which means that it works exactly the same way as if it was installed on my device. And this is the reason why I decided to delete one of them since there was absolutely no reason to keep the app which occupied 150MB of my storage space while the browser does the same thing. So if you have never tried the add-to-home-screen trick, you definitely should give it a try.

Challenge a Friend Feature That Nobody Else Got Right

The second application which I decided to delete had multiplayer option but this feature was locked behind the paywall. You had to pay a monthly fee in order to play this game with your friend. Just a crazy business model. But on wordleunlimited.dev Challenge a Friend feature is not only free but also better than on other apps. You choose your word, optionally you can set time limit and hints, and then you get the link which you can send to your friend in order to play this particular word. There are no accounts, no different levels of the subscription and no in-app purchases whatsoever. Your friend simply clicks the link and starts playing. One such a feature alone made those other applications worthless since they charge me money for the feature which I can get for free on wordleunlimited.dev.

Multiple Word Lengths in One Interface – Killed the Third App

The third application which I deleted was kids' word game which was using only 3-letter words. It was great for my nephew but completely useless when he started playing longer words. But on wordleunlimited.dev I can use any word length from 3 to 7 letters. So my nephew can play 3-letter version while I can play 5-letter version on the same website without switching to another platform. When my nephew will be ready to play longer words, the game will become appropriate for him as well. So this makes the game a lifetime tool and not an age-limited toy which is how the game should be developed if a developer really cares about long-time players.

The Hints System Is Not Only Available But Also Not Aggressive

One of the main problems that I always had with other apps was hints system which either was unavailable or too aggressive for me. Some of them provided me the full letter which made the whole puzzle worthless. On the other hand, on wordleunlimited.dev hints are not intrusive. There are two hints in each round which give you enough information in order to continue the game without revealing the answer. You turn them on in settings and then press the bulb icon to receive a hint. Such a balanced hints system is rather a rarity and I must say that this feature gave me an impression that the website was professionally designed and not some quick-and-dirty project which was launched yesterday.

The Time Mode Was The Extra Feature Which I Wasn't Expecting

Only one of the three apps which I was deleting had a timed mode but this mode was completely buggy. Wordle Unlimited has Time mode with clear options for 1 minute, 90 seconds and 2 minutes. So you just select your time, select your word length and try to solve as many puzzles as you can until the timer expires. I don't know why but Time mode is a stress relief tool for me. It sounds a bit weird but it seems like playing in Time mode somehow clears my mind. So whenever I am overwhelmed with some thoughts at work I just open Time mode and do 2-minute run and by the end of this my brain gets reset. Unexpected feature but I really enjoy this mode on wordleunlimited.dev.

The Real Kids' Mode Where There Are Only 3-Letter Words

One of the apps which I decided to delete promised to have kids' mode but it kept providing me with some slang words and adult vocabulary which is completely inappropriate when your 6-year-old child is playing. Wordle Unlimited has a real kids' mode where the game is using 3 letter words and filtering out inappropriate vocabulary. You just turn it on in settings once and the game becomes kid-friendly. I can tell that my sister uses this feature for her twins when they go to the road trip and she is absolutely amazed by the purity of the vocabulary. Filtering words is the difference between the game which was created with families in mind and the game which just has kid mode for the marketing purposes.

Local Stats Without the Nonsense of Cloud Syncing

The last feature that made me delete all other apps was the way the stats was working. My old apps kept pushing me to use cloud syncing which means that I had to create an account, verify it with email address and receive tons of notifications all the time. But on wordleunlimited.dev stats is stored locally which is much better regarding privacy and also is much faster since there is no need to send requests to the server in this case. So I can see my win streak, average number of tries and my game history in the stats section without connecting to any external account. It is simple, it is private and it is functional exactly as it should be.

Color Blind and High Contrast Modes For Everyone

The last quality of life feature which I want to discuss is the high contrast color mode. Not everyone can distinguish between standard green and orange tiles especially the color blind people. Wordle Unlimited has a high contrast toggle in settings which changes the tile colors into color blind-friendly colors. Accessibility feature like this is quite rare in casual word puzzle games and it proves the fact that the website was really built with real players in mind and not some lowest-common-denominator fast launch app which earns some ad revenue during few months and then leaves the market.

Conclusion

Overall, wordleunlimited.dev does everything that other apps promise but without any ads, without any subscription and without any accounts. Deleting of those three apps cleared my storage space, saved me from the constant notifications and honestly brought back the fun to word games for me. If you are still using a bloated word app just because it was the first one which you found, you should definitely try what wordleunlimited.dev has to offer and I can guarantee that after this you will start deleting apps.
